About the course:

An exciting course that builds and reinforces the high standard of theatre performance at the College and in the local area and features a range of performance opportunities.

This is a highly practical course for students with an interest in drama and performance. Students’ skills are developed through programmes of workshops, seminars and studio performances, leading to showcase productions in The Northbrook Theatre. The College offers facilities unrivalled in the region including the 160 seat professional theatre, new studio theatre, ten rehearsal and dance studios and extensive production workshops.

Level 3 students study performance skills focusing on acting styles, physical theatre, improvisation, storytelling, voice, rehearsals, film and TV, Variety performance, audition techniques, arts business and historical context.

Students will be assessed through a range of assignments which include practical demonstrations and performances both in our theatre and at local venues which are, in turn, supported by written coursework to inform your practice.

If you have less that grade C/4 in GCSE English or Maths, you will also study that subject at college.

Uniform is comfortable blacks. For example: black t-shirt, black leotard, black tights/leggings, hoodie & joggers/tracksuit.

All students need a portable USB flash drive.

Northbrook Theatre T-shirts, hoodies, joggers and onesies are available to buy directly from the department but are not compulsory.

Entry Requirements:

To start on this course you need:

Either 
At least 3 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English and maths
or 
a relevant Level 1 qualification, including English and maths requirements and a tutor reference.

Applicants are auditioned.

(Students with at least 4 GCSEs at grades A-C/ 9-4 (including English) may be able to start on the Level 3 course instead.)

Progression / Career:

After 1 year, you can achieve a UAL Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts. This means you can apply for Level 3 of this course or one of the other Level 3 courses in this department.
